Air plant shadows

After a nice soak and shake, these mostly tillandsia air plants are almost dry enough to go back on my windowsill.

Hydrangea tiny flowers

I love these tiny, lacy flowers within the flowers, within the flowers! that some hydrangeas have. With our acidic soils here in the Pacific Northwest, they are certainly blue!

Rain on hostas

We were lucky enough to have a good rain; Seattle has been quite dry this spring. All the garden plants enjoyed it.

Water droplets like jewels on ribbed hosta leaves. Note the flower buds emerging.

Great blue heron

While at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks in Seattle the other day, we saw a great blue heron from pretty close by, looking for lunch. A tough job.

Red calla lilies and yellow ball flowers

One of my favorite images from the NW Flower & Garden Show (#NWFGS) is this bouquet of deep red and yellow callas, with some kind of ball flower inserted into each one. Over a cloud of pale green hydrangeas, naturally.

This just in! These ball flowers are Craspedia (Drumstick Flower)! You can buy seeds!

Fuzzy peach

Our very young peach tree gave us eight peaches! When’s the last time you saw peaches with fuzz on them? Commercial growers breed that out of them for market purposes, but the store ones sure don’t smell and taste like these.

Magnolia blossom

Magnolias seem to be beautiful in all stages. This one has lost one petal.

Cruise ship light sculpture

I’m not really sure what to call this giant light fixture in the middle of the NCL Breakaway cruise ship. It’s several stories tall and the LED colors keep changing. Trippy, man!

Orange brugmansia

The weather has gotten too cold for this brugmansia (Angel’s Trumpet) plant to stay on the patio, so into the living room it has come until the warm weather returns. Every night the scent perfumes the entire house.
