Grape hyacinths (Muscari)

Some flowers are already blooming in the back yard. I do love these little bulbs. Their green foliage starts so early in the year, they multiply nicely, and they bloom the same time as daffodils, pretty much. Great combo.

Plum blossoms

I have a multi-graft plum tree, and the earliest section is blooming. Such a welcome sight. Happy Spring!

Hydrangea macro

Hydrangeas are some of the most beautiful flowers in close ups. I see that I have already done two posts with the title Hydrangea Macro! (Search for hydrangea in the search bar on the right.) These multi-hued ones were blooming at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory’s Spring and Easter display, going on right now. Go see them!

Poinsettias, outdoors

One of the great pleasures of a foreign trip is seeing what grows well there. I was so pleased to see this outdoor display of poinsettia plants in San Miguel de Allende, in Mexico, last month.

Succulent rosettes

On my recent trip to Mexico, I saw some extremely pretty succulents in my sister’s garden. Don’t they look like roses?

Red calla lilies and yellow ball flowers

One of my favorite images from the NW Flower & Garden Show (#NWFGS) is this bouquet of deep red and yellow callas, with some kind of ball flower inserted into each one. Over a cloud of pale green hydrangeas, naturally.

This just in! These ball flowers are Craspedia (Drumstick Flower)! You can buy seeds!
