Patio plants

The sunshine got here. The patio plants are so happy. Those purple puffs in back are chive flowers.

Tulip field with old trees

From my recent visit to the Skagit tulips. The trunks of the trees were at least 6 or 8 feet (2-3 meters) in diameter. They were OLD.

Sunflower seedling

The weather has been so amazingly wet this month, breaking records in Seattle, but I want to do garden things. I started some seeds by soaking them overnight first, then put them in produce-type clamshells, the kind with holes already in them, and they sprouted in only 4 days! Here is a sunflower seedling showing its first baby leaves, not the true leaves soon to emerge. I love this image and am calling it my weekly Top Shot.

Tulips in April

Had to go to the archives for some tulips. They bloom around here (Western Washington) in April. Be sure to visit the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival at least once in your life, if you can. They really do look like this:

Dramatic sky

The cloudy, rainy weather has finally ended, for a little while. Here is a look at the western sky over the campus of Highline Community College, in Des Moines, WA on Monday evening as the clear skies approached. See the rain still falling in the distance?

Scenic overlook with gray skies

Even gray skies can be scenic, once in awhile. I love this image and am calling it my weekly Top Shot.

Peacock window

This large peacock window over the entrance to Seattle’s beloved Volunteer Park Conservatory on Capitol Hill is the original window, and over one hundred years old. It is beautiful on sunny days and on gray and rainy ones as well.

Photos from Peru

It’s travel weekend, here at Sara’s Fave Photos blog. The pictures below were taken in Peru by my cousin Aurora, the daughter of Sheila, who just went to Hawaii. Peripatetic family! I have never been to Hawaii, but I truly loved my visit to Peru many years ago.
