Roses in a fountain

Highline Botanical Garden had an event today with Ciscoe Morris giving a talk, so I had to go and check it out. They had the place all decorated, including these roses in the big fountain. Cloudy weather can be great for certain types of flower photos, can’t it? I like the moody quality of this photo and am calling it my Best Post of the Week.

Mellow Yellow Monday, Watery WednesdayOutdoor Wednesday, Color Carnival, Pink Saturday, SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera) Scenic Sunday, Today’s Flowers, Macro Monday, Macro Flowers Saturday and Macro Friday are all neat blogs and memes worth a visit. Dusty kitty and patio shadows

Dusty is one of those kitties who loves everyone. Doesn’t matter if you love cats or not, smell of dogs or not, feed her or not, she is your friend. “Pet me!” she says. In our last house we had a deck with weathered wood, and I swear sometimes it was hard to see her when she lounged on it. She’s still a bit camouflaged here on our patio but makes herself known quite well.

Shadow Shot Sunday, Outdoor Wednesday, SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera) and Camera Critters this week have other interesting insights. Take a look! But do browse around here first. Click on Sara’s Fave Photos here if there is only one photo below. Thanks for visiting!

Boats on the water

A gray sky, late in the day, but the calm water gives this a peaceful feeling. A little slice of Seattle for you.

Pink tulips against a cloudy sky

Even on a gray and cloudy day, pink tulips are glorious and uplifting. These pink and white beauties were at the Skagit Tulip Festival earlier this week. You locals, go TODAY! Warm and sunny, yes!!!

Pink Saturday has pretty pinkness and this week, Easter themed photos. Also visit Today’s Flowers, Macro Monday, Macro FridayColor Carnival, Outdoor Wednesday and Flowers on Saturday. Click on the Sara’s Fave Photos banner above to show the full blog here. And because I like the pink and the gray sky, I’m calling this my Best Post of the Week. Hope you agree.

Typical gray Seattle skies with Space Needle

Driving back from the Skagit Tulip Festival yesterday (more coming on that soon, you can be sure) there was a briefly unobstructed view of our glorious and wacky Space Needle, so I held up the camera to its vague direction and snapped. Yes, I clicked the shutter several times and later tossed most of them, but I always marvel at how digital has changed photography. In film days, you can bet that the shot would never have been good enough, shot from a moving car and through the windshield, and more important, I never would have “wasted” ten or 12 frames on such an unlikely capture. Digital rocks!

Visit Skywatch Friday for more sky scenes from around the world. Outdoor Wednesday, Watery Wednesday and Scenic Sunday all have worthwhile images to browse. Yours, too, perhaps? If there is only one photo below, click on Sara’s Fave Photos for others.

Normandy Park overlook with dramatic light

Here’s a stunner of a view, if I do say so myself. It’s amazing what a little patch or two of sunlight can do to an otherwise gray vista. This overlook near my house has been such a great scenic boon to me, and I am grateful.

Visit Watery Wednesday and Outdoor Wednesday, Weekend Reflections, Skywatch Friday and Scenic Sunday, too, for more great photos.

I continue to be excited by the lucky break I encountered in the cloud cover and am calling this my Best Post of the Week.

Fog in the garden

There has been fog in the mornings recently. This is my neighbors’ yard from our house. Fog makes it all so quiet and mysterious!

Visit Skywatch Friday for more photos of skies seen around the world, and Scenic Sunday likewise for scenery. And while you’re here, do try another tag or category, or a search for something interesting. Fog, perhaps? To visit the latest post here, click on Sara’s Fave Photos.

Foggy sunset

At the Dungeness Recreation Area near Sequim, WA, right after we saw the bald eagle below, as the sun was setting it peeked in and out of the fog. Moody, evocative scene. The foghorn sounded every once in awhile, just to add to the effect.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more kinds of skies seen all over the world. Scenic Sunday has amazing photos, too.

If you have arrived via the permalink, be sure to look around for something new. How about trying a search for “sunset”? The latest posts can always be found at Sara’s Fave Photos, above.

Flat fountain at McCaw Hall

This fountain near McCaw Hall, home of Pacific Northwest Ballet, is unlike any I have ever seen. The water seeps flatly over smooth pavers into the drain across a very wide expanse. Perhaps people walk barefoot in it during the summer. I’ll have to check back on a warm day!

Winter view of Puget Sound

It’s been pretty darn cloudy and wet, and dark, but there is still scenic delight if you hunt for it. OK, it’s subtle, but still lovely. Here’s a recent view of Puget Sound from the Normandy Park cove beach.

For more watery wonders, visit Watery Wednesday. I like the reflections in this one, and if you’d like more of those, visit Weekend Reflections. And find more scenic interest over at Scenic Sunday.
