Variegated pieris

More from the Soos Creek garden in Auburn, WA. The foliage on this shrub is so showy it’s like flowers!

Fern seahorse

I’ve seen fern fronds in curls as they unfurl, but never a seahorse shape!

Forest stream

On my birthday recently we went hiking in a delightful piece of old forest right in West Seattle, Schmitz Preserve Park. So very beautiful, and the fabulous weather didn’t hurt one bit.

Dandelions

I do love dandelions, but not in my own yard. These were by the side of the road near my Seattle home.

Colorful San Miguel shopping

The bright sun in Mexico makes the bright colors look just right. Here are just two scenes, could post dozens.

Mexico scenery

While I was visiting my sister in San Miguel in central Mexico, we took a drive to drop someone off who lives in a small village in the country, el campo.

Horse grazing

We used to have a horse pasture behind our backyard. Those days are gone. Hope Tawny is grazing happily somewhere wonderful.

Green bouquet

The floral displays at the NWFGS might be my favorite part of the show—especially since they are in the lobby, with lots of natural light. Here’s a lovely bouquet, so subtle and Seattle in its use of green elements.

Tulips emerging

There was a sunbreak recently (a very Seattle thing) and I went outside to work in the garden. The bulbs are starting! Behind the tulip sprouts are bluebells starting up.

Ribbon crowns

Not sure the real name of these headpieces for little girls playing dress up, but I know if I was five I sure would want one! Later: They are called Fairy Crowns.
