In Point Defiance Rose Garden in Tacoma, WA, I was lucky enough to see a beautiful and excited fifteen-year old girl having her Quinceañera photos taken.

A beautiful flower, extremely adaptable (almost invasive!) but so very graceful. Good in bouquets, this crocosmia (also called Montbretia) is also found in the taller, all red version “Lucifer.”

I had to look it up, but these stargazer lily parts are stamens, which are the pollen-bearing organ of a flower, consisting of the filament and the anther. I know you had better not get that pollen on your clothes, either—stain city. But inhale that fabulous perfume!
