Magnolia, from the springtime

So many cheerful photos in the archives; a gray day like today is perfect to find one for us all to enjoy. This was taken at my old house, towards the end of March that year. Glorious, isn’t it?

For more flowers seen across the planet, visit Flowers for Today. And this one’s also SOOC, or straight out of the camera. And check out Scenic Sunday while you’re at it.

Pink hardy cyclamens

These pink pretties, not from my garden unfortunately, bloomed in September. The great thing about them, besides their beauty, is that they can take dry shade, and survive some freezing weather also. They are short but do spread out, and do well even under the shade of a big cedar tree. I’ve bought a little plant to try them at my house in just that location.

For more pinkness, visit Pink Saturday.

Picotee begonia

Flowers with colored petal edges are called picotee, I understand, and they are some of my faves. This begonia has to be taken indoors to wait out the cold weather. I repotted it in the spring and it did take a good while to get going again, but then it did very well. They like a good amount of fertilizer, that’s for sure.

For more cheerful yellow, visit Mellow Yellow Monday, and for more close ups, visit Macro Monday.

Pink rose of summer

Not much blooming outside right now, so here’s a dip into the archives for something pink and delightful to brighten any gray skies for you. Visit Pink Saturday for more blissful pinkness.

Summer dahlia

Only two months ago, but such a difference. Outside the rain continues, but I can marvel at the perfection of a dahlia that was. Didn’t my garden look good? This was a great gardening year in Seattle, and I salute it.

For more flowers around the world, visit Flowers for Today. And visit Color Carnival for more brilliant colors. Try Macro Monday for more intriguing close ups, and Mellow Yellow Monday for more, well, yellow.

And I’ve chosen this post for my Best Post of the Week (BPOTW). If you’d like to see more self-selected posts of an incredible variety, check it out.

Pink rose

It’s been gray, gray, gray and raining, even more than usual here in Seattle. It’s rained 5 or 6 inches in the last few weeks, with not even a sunbreak very often. This photo of a rose was taken in someone else’s garden in September, not that long ago, but it seems so far away. For more blissful pinkness, visit Pink Saturday.

Snapdragons and red rose

Today I am posting two flowers in honor of being Guest Friend on Flowers for Today, where you can see lovely flowers of all kinds posted on blogs around the world.

Here are some snapdragons from my garden, “snapped” mid-October in a sunbreak after a rain, with my house in the background. I grew these from seed so I’m extra happy with them. If we get a mild winter they might even live over to next year.

Below the snaps is a red, red rose, taken in a Wallingford garden on the same day as the snapdragons.

This is also a post for Color Carnival, site of brilliant colors in photos.

Astrantia, from June

Nothing pink blooming right now, or if there is, it’s too wet to go out there and find it. Here’s a photo of some pretty pink flowers I found in someone’s garden back in June. I have some in my own garden but not such a pretty shade of pink. Happy Pink Saturday!

I’ll be away for a few days and will do my best to return visits (when you leave a comment) when I get back. I dearly love to read what you have to say; please be honest.

Rainy rosebuds

Thought I’d post a couple of rainy rosebuds for Watery Wednesday. To me the raindrops look almost like jewels. Which one do you prefer?

Dahlias still dazzle

I do still have a few dahlias that got a late start this year and are now at their peak. They are just so exuberant!

Visit Flowers for Today for the most amazing flower photos. And check out Color Carnival for more bright colors to amaze and amuse. Macro Monday has more close ups, and Mellow Yellow Monday (of course!) more yellow.
