Peony blossom

I am not ready to let summer go. Here is one of my peonies from June of this year.

Ferry boat at dusk

This ferry-in-the-sunset photo is very similar to one I posted about three years ago, but I think it deserves a re-run. I had just gotten my new camera and hadn’t mastered all the settings (not that I’ve done so by now) and it needed a tad of adjustment, but hardly any. Those are the Olympic Mountains in the distance.

Red rose blooming

The local Garden Club has a flower show every three months and recently had this beauty on display. My roses are almost done for the season, but this one is still so beautiful.

Bowman Bay at dusk

Bowman Bay at Deception Pass in Washington is an incredibly scenic place where you can camp right near the water. We were there last year at this time, and this photo is a companion to the one I posted from that trip here. I love this post and am calling it my Best Post of the Week.

Walkway shadows

I’m not much of a morning person, so when I do get out early in the morning, I love to see the shadows that can happen.

Green, yellow and purple string beans

The harvest this year is great. The amazing green pole beans could have climbed to the heavens had I let them and all are bearing so well. If you haven’t tried the purple ones, they do taste great but when you cook them they become green like regular stringbeans. The yellow ones, or wax beans, are very slightly different in taste from the green ones. All are delicious!

Remember, when storing string beans in the fridge, do not put extra water in the plastic bag, as they will get a yucky brown rust on them. Keep them fairly dry and they will keep a lot better. If you can keep them that long. I love them raw as well as steamed with butter, lemon juice and a dash of Spike seasoning. Yum!
