The first couple of days were warm and sunny; perfect shadow capture weather. Here is our cooler and a path in the campground.

I wish it was easier to find out the name of flowers you don’t know. This one is an oldie; my mom grew it when I was a kid in Queens, New York, in her beautiful garden. It grows well up here in Seattle and reseeds itself. It’s two or three feet tall, and kind of hard to photograph, with deep, brilliant magenta flowers and silvery foliage. I figure magenta is a kind of pink, so I’m including it for Pink Saturday.
Does anyone know the name? I’d be so grateful.

This small park in Renton WA on the Cedar River is so small or unimportant it doesn’t show on our AAA map. But it’s lovely and perfect on a warm day. We went to be someplace cool and quiet, and rested on the grass and looked at the leaves. It was wonderful.
In terms of Think Green Thursday, even though parks are not wilderness, they remind us of how powerful and meaningful the simple outdoors experience can be.

This is part of my backyard, and my neighbor’s yard beyond the little fence, just two weeks ago. The show is over now, but with the magic of photography, the moment lives on. I am happy that I planted all those bulbs last fall, even though it was such a short, but intense, pleasure. I feel that gardening is a very green activity, and if you’d like to see other photo interpretations of the idea of green, visit Think Green Thursday.

Looking at the sky from an airplane is only sort of a sky view, but when there are clouds right there, what else is it? Anytime I fly, it’s a reminder of how beautiful and huge our country is, and mostly seemingly empty.
For more beautiful skies around the world, visit Skywatch Friday. Join in, if you like; it’s loads of fun.

Here’s a photo from my trip to New York, taken in Crocheron Park in Bayside, Queens—my old stomping grounds, you might say. The weather was mild and dry, and perfect for a quick walk.
The new Think Green Thursday meme doesn’t need postings to be a green color or even a photo, but photos and greenery suit me fine. For other ideas on being green, click HERE.

I think this plant may be a descendant of my original spider plant from the ’60s or ’70s. Yes, I had a macrame plant hanger then. Spider plants just keep having babies, and I feel like a murderer if I don’t make other plants from them eventually. Who knows how many have been given away, but I always keep one or two. Some bright light but not too much sun, a little plant food, and they are happy, living their little plant lives.
