These red, red bushes were in a beautiful old neighborhood of Seattle, Capitol Hill. I pulled the car over and took the shot. I think the front one might be called Burning Bush. Here is a bouquet I picked last week. The sun came out strong and before I took them to a cooler location, of COURSE I took this photo.

Beauty’s a pretty broad concept, and of course mine has flowers in it. This is from August, from my bedroom window. The horse’s name is Ranger, boarded in the neighbor’s pasture, and the flowers I planted with my own little hands. To me, a scene like this gives me feelings I can’t describe, so I guess I’ll call it beauty.

This is one of my very top faves, taken just a few weeks ago. It’s straight out of the camera, too (most of these blog posts are, but this one really looks fake!) and I just like it a lot. Hope you do, too.

Taken from the shady part of my yard, looking to the sunnier area, you can see there’s no problem with having flowers in shade, thanks to fuschias, wax begonias and red impatiens. I love that they need almost no care after planting except watering. The coleus (those spiky things) grown easily from seed did very well also. The sunflower is a volunteer from feeding the birds.

The weather is quite changed, much colder, and summer is truly over, I’m afraid. We had rain and wind and brief sun, and luckily I was at the overlook near my house today and saw Puget Sound in its glory. Happy Watery Wednesday!

I just can’t get over the weather we’re having lately. Since May it has been unusually sunny and warm. I am enjoying it so very much, but you can see the season is changing. This overlook is quite near my house, looking at Vashon Island, across Puget Sound. For more scenic photos, visit Scenic Sunday.

Here’s a recent sky, one of those ones full of great shapes that force you to free-associate. I see a dragon. You?

Today may have been the last perfect day of summer. In honor of this fabulous season that’s fading fast, here’s a hymn to lovely, warm weather. I took this in August at Lake Cushman of some gentleman trying his luck.

Here’s another photo from our camping trip last month. The weather last couple of days has been exceptionally fine, and I was reminded of this woodland path near Mt. Rainier. Dappled sunlight is my very favorite thing. Shall we take a walk?
