Notecard, Angel’s Trumpet

Here’s another notecard image. I love this one so much I used it on the cover of my book, “Flowers of Volunteer Park Conservatory.”

Angel's Trumpet, or Brugmansia. The buds are yellow, the flowers pink. This is the Ecuador Pink variety.

Spring display

Here’s a very springlike display from last year at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory, on the first day of spring. #vpc #springflowers

Brugmansia flowers

Scrolling through my photo archives, I found this image of huge, tropical brugmansia (Angels Trumpet) flowers from an August 2010 shoot at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory. See how the buds are yellow but the open flowers are pink? Wild, no?

Bird of paradise flower

This golden yellow is a more unusual color of bird of paradise, usually more orange. Talk about a showy flower! Taken at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory, of course.

Bromeliad and slug

I took this photo because of the pretty center that looks a bit like a baby bird beak, and only realized when I reviewed the photo in my computer that there was a baby slug taking a drink!

Vanda orchid

At the last day before the recent temporary closure to complete the restoration at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory (reopening Dec. 6!), these purple vanda orchids did their amazing thing.

Orchids at the Conservatory

Today was the last day that Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory was open to visitors so that the long-awaited restoration project can be completed. Look for the grand re-opening in early December.

A beautiful last day for the orchids at the Conservatory, until re-opening in December, a mere two months or so away.

Blue salvia

A recent visit to Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory had pretty blue salvia, a lovely annual, planted in the beds in front.
