Cruise ship stairs

A year ago I was on my way to Bermuda from NYC.

Jade vine

Blooming at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory, Strongylodon macrobotrys, or jade vine. The spent flowers fall still looking perfect, but unreal. Below the three fallen flowers is the plant as it grows. Isn’t that color like nothing you’ve ever seen? So graceful. LATER NOTE: This plant is blooming for the first time in 20 years!

Campfire

Last year when we went camping, there was a burn ban due to drought and fire conditions. This year, on the rainy Olympic Peninsula, fires in campsites were allowed. I had so missed it.

San Miguel wooden doors

The old doors of San Miguel de Allende are rightfully famous. I am sure there are many photography books on that just that subject.

Garden peonies

Here’s a breath of warmth and summer for us Northern Hemisphere folks—pink peonies in my backyard from six months ago.

Driftwood on the beach

Someone built this structure out of driftwood at Richmond Beach in Washington. Almost looks like a dinosaur skeleton, doesn’t it?

Shabby old chairs

Even though these graceful chairs in a Richmond Beach, WA coffee shop have seen better days, they still make me want to sit there. Side note: the chair on the left appears to be Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2015, Marsala.

Old upholstered chairs with carved wood and tufted backs still have some faded glory.

Vin rose bottle

Guess I’m just in a macro mood lately. From an afternoon garden party on one of the finest days Seattle can offer.

Old siding

I don’t usually post this kind of photo, but I’ll make an exception for this one. In Port Townsend, WA, we stayed at a place that was built in the 1890s. This was the corner of the garage or shed on the property. It just floats my boat.
