Brugmansia flowers

Scrolling through my photo archives, I found this image of huge, tropical brugmansia (Angels Trumpet) flowers from an August 2010 shoot at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory. See how the buds are yellow but the open flowers are pink? Wild, no?

Bird of paradise flower

This golden yellow is a more unusual color of bird of paradise, usually more orange. Talk about a showy flower! Taken at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory, of course.

Winter shadow scene

It’s hard to know what to call a scene like this. It’s just dried hydrangea blossoms on the bush, caught in some wonderful light on Christmas Day. I thought it looked good in black and white since the colors were kind of dull. Do you like it?

Winter flowers

In the Pacific Northwest, our mild climate means some things are actually blooming in late December, if you look hard enough.

Can you tell I miss the June warmth, and flowers, and picnics?

Peony in black and white

Peonies always enchant me with their sense of veiled promise, and that perfume. Here’s a macro view of one for my fans of monochrome images:

Jerusalem sage macro

The June photos are very appealing in these gray December days. Here’s a macro of part of a Jerusalem Sage flower. See here for its full, goofy shape in the garden.
