I brought these roses from my garden to my sister’s house on a Thanksgiving past. Nothing like November roses to tug at the heart of the gardener. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

This bouquet of yellow roses, some with magenta-pink edges, were a gift for my daughter on her birthday last year. Here they are again, in all their perfection.

The flower vendors at Seattle’s Pike Place Market really know how to put flowers together. You will find plant combos unlike anyplace else. And so cheap!

What with all the wind we had, the leaf season is leaving. This beloved poem comes to mind.

Spring & Fall: to a young child

Margaret, are you grieving
Over Goldengrove unleaving?
Leaves, like the things of man, you
With your fresh thoughts care for, can you?

It will come to such sights colder

We had a windstorm yesterday, so these maple leaves from a few days ago have probably blown off the old tree in my neighbor’s yard. A photo captures their incandescent color for us anyway.

I feel such frustration when the light is good and I can’t go outside and find something glorious in it to photograph. But sometimes gray light has its compensations. This maple tree was in a parking lot.
