Glass kimono

I am embarrassed to admit that in the ten years I have lived in the Seattle area, yesterday was my first visit to the Bellevue Arts Museum. Beautiful place! They permitted photography on the first floor, and I was totally entranced with this life-size cast glass sculpture. I am including a full image of it, plus the information posted on the museum wall about it.

Our goldfish

We now have five goldfish. I can’t believe how entertaining they are. They have their little personalities! Hope you like to watch the little guys swim around.

Happy Solstice!

Here’s an image I took last night at the home of some friends with a gorgeous tree. Happy Solstice to you! May your inner light guide your way, always.

Colorful sinks

In a restroom in a Mexican restaurant in Gig Harbor, Washington, I saw these sinks. This is something that you just don’t see every day.

Chair near elevator

I love this image. I don’t really know why, but I do. Hope you at least like it, too.

Carpet rainbow

We got a new hummingbird feeder and it’s sort of a half-tube shape (the back of it is flat against the glass) that attaches to the window with a suction cup. The window faces south, so now winter sun comes in on a sunny day. Look what was on the carpet yesterday!

Another benefit is that the warmth of the house through the windowglass is keeping the sugar water melted, even in this awful arctic weather we’ve been having.

Red horse blanket

I was looking for something red to post and found this image from a county fair this summer. Totally straight out of the camera and just for you:

Las Vegas chandelier

Just because it’s been so dark outside, thought you’d like to see a photo of a chandelier to light up your world. How’d you like that in your dining room?

1930s linens

I went to the most wonderful exhibit last night in Burien, WA: Hope in Hard Times, a pop-up museum that is well worth popping into. It’s only there through January 4, so if you are in the Seattle area, it’s well worth a visit. Many of us were strongly influenced by Depression-era culture. I know I was, through my mother. Here are some exquisite table linens that some anonymous artist made:

Chinese embroidery

When I was in the Seattle Asian Art Museum recently, I saw this detail of antique Chinese embroidery of ocean waves that I thought you might enjoy.
