Sara's Fave Photos Blog

Check out my new book, Flowers of Volunteer Park Conservatory. And welcome to Sara's Fave Photos Blog at Love That Image. My goal is to take a photo that is as compelling and beautiful as in real life, with no or minimal Photoshop work. You may copy a photo but link to lovethatimage.com. Thank you for your thoughtful comments, and thanks for visiting.

Shadows for Sunday

The late-day sun is a blessed thing for those with a camera in their hot little hands, itching for something lovely to capture. Another Arizona scene for your pleasure. For other fascinating shadow views, click HERE.

Skywatch Friday, back in Arizona

Here in Seattle it’s drizzly and gray, so I went back to my Arizona trip photos for a beautiful sky to post for today. This was taken not too far from Sedona. For more fascinating views of skies around the world, click HERE.

Des Moines marina

We went to dinner at Anthony’s at the marina and afterwards strolled at the water. Why is twilight so beautiful?

Ruby Tuesday campfire

We didn’t go camping this summer, but I was thinking about it and wish we could. Here is a photo from last year’s campsite, not too far from Mt. Ranier. I look at it and it makes me hear the quiet and smell the night air.

Shadow Sunday

I’m trying something new. I found a blog that suggests photos that are about or include shadows (Hey Harriet), and I like the things I saw there. I thought I’d give it a whirl. Here’s a photo from a week or two ago, when the sun was so warm I didn’t want to leave the water in it for too long. Hope you like it.

A late dahlia, mauve and yellow

Since we got a late start with the dahlias with our move this spring, they are just now getting going. Here’s one that is really beautiful, right in my back yard. For more flowers around the world, click HERE for Today’s Flowers, to view or participate.

A recent sunny day

Here in Seattle the rain has begun, and the gray clouds as well. I thought I’d post a couple of pictures from a recent Garden Club lunch. I love Carlyn’s idea of putting a little statue in a big plant saucer and filling it with tiny plants.

Arizona Sky for Skywatch Friday

So fun to browse through my archives with the mission of finding a sky photo for Skywatch Friday. You can find other people’s versions of Skywatch Friday HERE. I really like this photo, taken from a fast-moving car (I wasn’t driving!) while we were in Arizona last year. I remember how gray it was in Seattle at the time, and how much I loved the vast, brilliantly sunny, crystal clear air landscape.

Ruby Tuesday Peppers

At the Farmers Market late in the summer, what could be redder than these peppers? Click HERE for more Ruby Tuesday possibilities. Thanks to all those who leave comments; I really appreciate it.

Flower for today

It’s time for a flower for today. For more Flowers for Today, click HERE. Dahlias are so beautiful, with hundreds and hundreds of colors and types. If only they had scent, they would be my top faves altogether. Breeders, please make it happen! Fragrance, like a lily, would be just the thing.
