Sunny beach view

The last sunny day we had around here, at least one I have photos from, was March 19. Three weeks! It a view looking north at the Cove beach at Normandy Park, WA, in the Pacific Northwest, in the “convergence zone.” Today they do predict sunny weather, but it’s solid clouds as I write this. Sigh. It’s true yesterday we did have a sunbreak, and I finally got to take a few photos of the bulbs flowering in the yard (which I will show shortly), but how can you enjoy them if it’s cold and cloudy all the time?

Enough complaining. That’s what photos are for, to transport us to another time and place. Check out Skywatch Friday for more skies of all kinds around the planet, Blue Monday, Outdoor Wednesday, Watery Wednesday, Scenic Sunday, and SOOC Sunday for more photos with a theme. Gladiolus leaf shadows

Here’s another image of summer sun for you: gladiolus leaves. I planted some corms this spring and hope they do well where they are.

Shadow Shot Sunday has more interesting shadows for you to browse. Macro Friday and Macro Monday have more neat close ups, too, and be sure to click on Sara’s Fave Photos to view the complete blog if you see only one photo below.

New entry at the Volunteer Park Conservatory

In a sunbreak a couple of days ago, I took advantage of the great spring weather to head out to one of my favorite haunts, the Volunteer Park Conservatory, one of Seattle’s true hidden gems. They have redone the entry and it is so fabulous! Now a curved space greets you and you feel surrounded by the tropical foliage and flowers. And the shadows of the Peacock Window are a bonus.

Visit Shadow Shot Sunday for more intriguing shadows seen everywhere and SOOC for more straight-out-of-the-camera shots. If you see only one photo below, click on Sara’s Fave Photos for the complete blog. Thanks!

Fishing pier

A neighborhood fishing pier in Des Moines, Washington, out over the waters of Puget Sound. Since it’s been raining and wintry for it feels like months and months unendingly, I thought I’d go to the archives for a sunny day to cheer us up here in the Pacific Northwest. I like it here but sometimes the weather really gets to me. I want to go outside and garden! This photo is my Best Post of the Week.

Visit Watery Wednesday and Outdoor Wednesday for photos with a theme, as well as Blue Monday, Wordless Wednesday, Weekend Reflections, Shadow Shot Sunday, Skywatch Friday and Scenic Sunday. I love photo memes; can you tell? If there is only one photo below, click on Sara’s Fave Photos for others.

Palm fronds

Again a photo from the NW Flower & Garden Show a few weeks ago. Just love the lighting on these palm trees.

Visit Shadow Shot Sunday for more perfect penumbras and SOOC for more straight-out-of-the-camera shots. If you see only the one photo below, do click on Sara’s Fave Photos for the rest of them.

My love is like a red, red rose

Well, my hubby’s love, anyway. I love being able to receive a bunch of beautiful flowers at least once in awhile. Flowers are a feast for the senses and for the sense of mystery they engender. Why do we love them so much? They have such brief beauty, and then to the compost pile, but they comfort and delight us so. Have you ever noticed that so many people give each other flowers on important occasions? Why is that? But they are magical, and their meaning always seems just beyond words. So here is an image, instead.

I am honored to be Guest Friend on Today’s Flowers today! The great team there headed by SantilliDenisePupoSandy Carlson gives the world more beautiful flowers.

Visit Macro Friday, Macro Flowers Saturday, Color Carnival, Ruby Tuesday and Shadow Shot Sunday for more intriguing images.

Try clicking around in Free Photos for some interesting photos, too. And if there is only the red rose below, Sara’s Fave Photos here or above has the rest.

Spring Lake, California scenic view

That brief trip to Northern California last month is still yielding some neat images. Who doesn’t like reflections on a still lake in the sunshine? Spring Lake is in Santa Rosa, California, about an hour north of San Francisco. Seems like it was roughly the same hiking distance around as Green Lake in Seattle, about an hour or so. I love being outdoors near water!

Take a look at Outdoor Wednesday, Watery Wednesday, Scenic Sunday, Blue Monday and Weekend Reflections for more interesting images on a theme. And if you like scenic landscape photos, there are a number of new ones taken in Arizona on Free Photos that you might check out.

Blue urn in the garden

Gray and rainy out today (nothing new there) so a dip into the archives yields this pretty blue urn, setting off the hydrangeas so nicely. And of course the shadow is what caught my eye first, being the shadow junkie that I am. Thanks for that, Tracy!

Visit Shadow Shot Sunday for more intriguing shadows, Today’s Flower for flowers around the planet, Scenic Sunday, and Blue Monday for photos with blue in them. And you might try a tag of Blue or Shadows here (lower right) for some fun, first.

Big puffy cloud

Took this last year around this time, over the roof of my house. I totally love clouds like this, and I hope you do, too. So exciting, somehow.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more skies around the world. You can post a sky photo and join in if you like. Blue Monday, Scenic Sunday, and SOOC (straight out of the camera) are worth a visit, too. Before you run off, take a look at the newest photos “next door” at Free Photos, and maybe a tag like Cloudscape here (at the right). And one more thing: click on Sara’s Fave Photos if you see only one photo below.

Radish display

When I was a kid I didn’t like radishes—too sharp and spicy for me. But now they seem to taste quite a bit milder than they used to. I think they grow different varieties, or maybe my taste buds changed. In any case, aren’t they beautiful to look at, if not to cut into the salad?

Visit Ruby Tuesday and SOOC (straight out of the camera shots), plus Thursday Challenge (textures) and Color Carnival, for more interesting photos with a theme. And they are certainly wet, so hop on over to Watery Wednesday also. Before you go, be sure to check out a new tag or category here, or Free Photos right next door, for a fun browse. And if only one photo appears below, click on Sara’s Fave Photos for the whole enchilada.
