Cedar tree

This huge old cedar tree is what I first loved about this house. It’s actually hard to take a good photo of a tree, especially such a big one. This photo is hot out of the camera, as the weather cleared up nicely this afternoon and I just shot it.

Enjoy more shadows at Shadow Shot Sunday, the Hey Harriet blog. Scenic Sunday has more endlessly varied scenery.

While you’re here, you might try a new tag or search “tree” for other photos you might like. Or the My Garden category? To get to the latest post here, always click on Sara’s Fave Photos, here or above.

Succulent shadows

All cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti. This is a succulent plant maybe a foot (35 cm) or so across that I found on a recent sunny day at the Volunteer Park Conservatory. So vigorous and strong looking!

Visit the Hey Harriet blog for more Shadow Sunday posts, and SOOC for more straight-out-of-the-camera shots. But before you go, be sure to try a new category or tag here. Always get back to the latest post easily by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos, here or above.

Island shadow

That crabbing expedition out from Anacortes, WA last week yielded some yummy crabs and some neat photos, too. Here’s another island, casting its shadow upon the water.

Do visit Shadow Shot Sunday for more interesting shadows of all kinds, Scenic Sunday for scenery and Weekend Reflections, too. And before you go, maybe the category of Waterscape has some neat photos you’ve never seen. Click on Sara’s Fave Photos for the latest post here.

Gazebo

Our recent visit to Anacortes, WA to go crabbing with friends was topped off by a lovely late-day stroll from the Cap Sante marina to a nearby gazebo. There’s no way it shows up at this resolution, but there’s actually a line of birds flying low in the sky near the gazebo. I love the light at this time of day. It’s brief, but everything looks like it is dipped in gold.

Visit Scenic Sunday for other scenic shots. And you might try the “scenic” tag while you are here, first. If you’ve arrived from a link or search engine, be sure to click on Sara’s Fave Photos above for the latest post.

I like this photo very, very much. I might frame it. Anyway, I’ve tagged it Best Post of the Week.

Stargazer lily

I know I’ve posted close ups of this kind of lily before, but they are just so showy! And I am so thrilled when something SO exciting blooms in my very own garden. Be careful about the pollen, you know. Florists pull off those pretty pollen things because they can stain your clothes badly. But photos are safe!

Visit Pink Saturday, Color Carnival and Macro Flowers Saturday for great photo browsing, and SOOC has more straight out of the camera shots. And you can always poke around here for something like “pink” or “lily” in the search field. Return to the latest blog post by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos.

There’s a little bonus at the bottom of the page. Aren’t they cute?

Sunset at Sculpture Park in Seattle

There was a dance thing at Sculpture Park in Seattle tonight, part of the Dancing til Dusk series the city has put on this summer. If you’d like to see a video of a great waltz demo, you can see it here: Waltz Demo. But the setting overshadowed even the great dancing for awhile, as the sunset turned into one of those red fire ones. This is straight out of the camera, handheld, and no special settings or cropping, either. I’m calling it my Best Post of the Week.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more skies seen round the world, and Scenic Sunday rocks. Color Carnival and Weekend Reflections are great, too.

Try a new tag or category today. Sunset, perhaps? And you can return to the full blog, if you’ve arrived via a link, by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos above.

Peace roses

These are from my Peace rosebush a few weeks ago. There are still blooms out there, but not in the full heady flush you get in July. Enjoy their vision of perfection.

Visit Shadow Shot Sunday for more interesting shadows, Today’s Flowers for more lovely blooms, Macro Monday for more wonderful close ups and Mellow Yellow Monday for more photos with a splash of yellow. Deck shadows

A shady deck on a sunny day is a fine thing. This place was as delightful to sit in as it looks. So much is said and implied by shadows!

Visit Shadow Shot Sunday for more perfect penumbras. And while you are here, try clicking on a new tag or category. Returning to the latest post is easy: just click on Sara’s Fave Photos, above.

Big lawn

This lovely scene is in Volunteer Park in Seattle on a recent sunny day. I love looking out at a sunshiny lawn from under a shady tree.

The Thursday Challenge this week is the theme of Outdoors. Do visit Scenic Sunday as well.

While you’re here, you might try clicking on a tag of “green” or “sky” to see what comes up. And you can always see the latest post here by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos.

Red flower buds

I was browsing through my archives trying to create a slideshow of flowers for the garden club I belong to and found this image. Neat, isn’t it? But I have no idea what it’s called. Anyone?

Visit Shadow Shot Sunday, SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera), Color Carnival and Today’s Flowers for great sites in blogland. Browse around here while you’re already here, perhaps something like “sunset” or “rose.” And if you’ve landed here via the permalink, an easy way to the latest post is by Sara’s Fave Photos, above.
