Lavender Grosso

I am lucky enough to have surprisingly good conditions for growing lavender. Most of it is pretty much spent at this time of year, but the lavender grosso blooms latest and is still nice to pick and dry. Intensely fragrant, it’s good in little organza bags in your closet to repel moths. But maybe I should make a wreath?

Just harvested lavender grosso, ready to dry for sachet or cooking.

Fear not!

“And the angel said unto them, ‘Fear not!'” This is one of my favorite quotes from the Bible. Especially good for this year, these times. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Two kitties

Looking through my archives, found this peaceful photo of a friend’s cats staying warm. Isn’t this relaxing just to look at?

Fallen rose petal

Sometimes just one rose petal is enough to tell the story. Autumn is here.

A single rose petal falls on the table.

Solstice houseplant

I have a kokedama houseplant that is my own little Stonehenge. Even though the window faces north, for a only few days at the Solstice, sunshine pours in.

Drumstick flower

I love these little yellow balls, craspedia globosa or drumstick flower. The Northwest Flower & Garden #NWFGS show never ceases to delight.

Adorable small yellow ball flowers. You can grow them from seed!

Red calla lilies and yellow ball flowers

One of my favorite images from the NW Flower & Garden Show (#NWFGS) is this bouquet of deep red and yellow callas, with some kind of ball flower inserted into each one. Over a cloud of pale green hydrangeas, naturally.

This just in! These ball flowers are Craspedia (Drumstick Flower)! You can buy seeds!
