In general, I am a fan of the most natural look possible of the natural world. I like photos because they capture a beautiful sight that I’d like to revisit. But sometimes, the lure of “art” beckons. Sitting in a car, waiting for a few minutes for the rain to stop, I snapped this photo. Isn’t it funny the way a color image can look totally black and white?

Bulbs are great. When you find some that are happy where you put them, their return each year is such a gift. These white Dutch irises are such a pretty sight in my May garden.

This spot near my house is the most amazingly scenic overlook, at least when it is sunny. Did you know that the Seattle area gets more overcast days (220 per year) than any other US city? It just makes us giddy when the sun is out.

I was at Highline Community College the other day and found this amazing view of the Olympic Mountains and the waters of Puget Sound. The skies have been clear and beautiful this week here in Seattle and we so appreciate it.

I’m wishing camping season was here already. I love getting to spend all day and night in the fresh air, even if the weather is not so perfect. I don’t want to tent camp in the rain because cooking is just impossible, but gray is OK. Here’s a photo of Bowman Bay, at Wahington’s Deception Pass State Park, on a gray and slightly foggy July day last summer.
