Field of pink tulips

One from the archives, for sure. I was going through the tulip collection because I felt like creating a calendar for 2011 with tulips and I don’t think I ever posted this one on the blog. I will definitely include it in the calendar. It was taken in April of this year at the Skagit Valley Tulip Fest, a couple hours north of Seattle in Washington. Hope you enjoy this blast of springtime as we are entering winter.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more great skies seen around the world. Color Carnival has more brilliant colors. Pink Saturday has more pinkness. Scenic Sunday has more scenery. You get the idea.

I really like the expansive feeling I get when I look at this photo so I’ve categorized and entered it as Best Post of the Week.

Princess crowns

I’m not sure if princess crowns is the right name for these dress up things I saw in the Pike Place Market last week, but I do know that if I were about seven years old, it sure would make me feel like a princess to wear one. Note that they are in the “important colors” of pink, lavender and red. There was a time when my own little girl would wear nothing else.

Visit Pink Saturday for more visions of perfect pinkness. Color Carnival has more great, bright colors. If there’s only one photo here, do click on Sara’s Fave Photos for the complete blog.

Pink astrantia

Only three short weeks ago, this bloomed in my garden. Astrantia is one of my new favorite perennials. It bloomed and bloomed and bloomed, and seemed to be perfectly fine in quite a bit of shade. With pretty and unusually shaped leaves to boot, what more could you want from a garden plant?

Visit Macro Friday, Pink Saturday and Macro Flowers Saturday if you have a chance. This one is SOOC, or straight out of the camera, too. If you’ve found only one photo below, click on Sara’s Fave Photos for more.

Blush rose

I just love the way this rose looks. So tenderly colored, so perfect.

Pink Saturday has lots more pink things, and SOOC has more straight-out-of-the-camera photos. Today’s Flowers has blooms from around the world. Do check it out!

I’m trying out something new, for me: Twitter. Hey, better late than never. You can follow me @SaraLChapman, and I’ll be letting the world and my Twitter followers know about new posts here as they arise from my magic computer.

Palm trees silhouette

Palm trees silhouetted against a sunset sky . . . what could be better? I feel relaxed just looking at it. Our conference in Las Vegas at the Flamingo Hotel did keep me busy morning to night, but I did sneak some pictures, thank goodness.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more fascinating skies seen round the world. This one is definitely SOOC, or straight out of the camera, and Scenic Sunday has some more scenery for you, too. Pink Saturday has more pretty pinks!

I like this photo a lot and am calling it my Best Post of the Week.

Pink pansies

Had a half hour to kill so I went to a local nursery, just to browse around. Time well spent, believe me. I’ll show the amazing pumpkins and gourds they displayed in another post. Here are just some perfect pink pansies in the afternoon light.

Visit Pink Saturday for more pretty pinkness, and Macro Flowers Saturday, too. Some shadows qualify it for Shadow Shot Sunday, and it’s also SOOC or straight out of the camera.

I’m going to be away for a few days, so look for some new stuff when I get back on Wednesday. Ta-ta!

Pink and white roses

These roses from July are just the thing for a Pink Saturday post, don’t you think? Even though they are not totally perfect, they are gorgeous enough in my book to show off here to the world. No, not from my garden, more’s the pity. Maybe next year I can get roses that lush.

Late zinnias

Believe it or not, I took this today, October 22, at the Pike Place Market in Seattle, which sells only what the local growers actually grow on their farms. How sweet to see these pink zinnias’ cheerful faces, into autumn as we surely are.

Visit Pink Saturday for more perfect pinkness and Color Carnival for many brilliant colors. Macro Flowers Saturday has more flower close ups, and Today’s Flower has flowers from around the world. Macro Monday has more close ups of all kinds. Let’s try a new meme: Flowers on Saturday!

Brugmansia or angel trumpet flower

This brugmansia plant in Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory has flowers about the length of my hand and is quite amazingly beautiful. Its graceful curves are hard to capture in a photo. One of the very odd things about it is that occasionally a different color flower will occur on the same plant, at least on this peachy pink kind. You can see a yellow one in the background, and it is on the very same stem as the others. Brugmansia, or angel trumpet, is in the datura family and I believe is poisonous. But oh, so beautiful!

Magenta phalaenopsis orchid

These butterfly-shaped orchids are irresistable. I love the way there is a whole stream of them on one stem, one behind the other. I took this photo at Volunteer Park Conservatory in Seattle not too long ago. Orchids are amazing and there seem to be some in bloom throughout the entire year at the Conservatory. Whatever they do, it’s working.

Visit Macro Flowers Saturday , Color Carnival , Pink Saturday and SOOC (straight out of the camera) if you have time. Great photos there.

While you are here, be sure to explore and do a search (orchid?) or a new tag (magenta?). And to get to the latest post and the full blog, click on Sara’s Fave Photos, here or above.
