Perfect pink rose

On that visit to Trudy’s Floral Design a couple of days ago, I spotted a perfect pink rose in a little vase. Let us all admire the perfection of a rose. Why does it continue to fascinate us so much?

Visit Macro Monday, Macro Friday, Shadow Shot Sunday, Macro Flowers Saturday, Pink Saturday, Today’s Flowers, and Weekend Flowers, if you have a minute for photo fun. You might click on a new tag or category while you are here first. And if you like what you see here, do click on Sara’s Fave Photos for more pretty pictures.

Boat ramp

I’m still not ready to let summer go. In August we went on a brief camping trip on the Olympic Peninsula (Western Washington) and visited this little lake, Wildcat Lake. Boat ramps intrigue me. When I first saw one as a child, I didn’t know what it was and was mystified. A road into the lake? How strange. I still think they are evocative, you might say. Just waltz right in . . .

Visit Blue Monday, SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera), Outdoor Wednesday, Scenic Sunday, Skywatch Friday, Watery Wednesday, Shadow Shot Sunday, Weekend Reflections and Wordless Wednesday for lots more photo fabulousness. Gladiolus macro

At a District Garden Club flower show not long ago, late summer flowers were in glorious abundance. I was a bit distracted as I was selling copies of my book there for the first time in front of the public. They were very well received, I’m happy to say. It was so much fun, meeting fans and signing books. But even though there wasn’t much time for photography, I did get this image, which I love very much. I’m calling it my Best Post of the Week, too.

Visit Macro Monday, Macro Friday, SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera), Shadow Shot Sunday, Macro Flowers Saturday, Pink Saturday, Today’s Flowers, and Weekend Flowers, if you get a chance. But first, see the complete and up-to-date blog here by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos, here or on the banner above.

Japanese garden

Highline Garden just north of Seattle’s SeaTac Airport has a lovely Japanese garden which, amazingly, was moved from another location not that long ago. Here is one view of it in August. Don’t you love seeing the blue sky and puffy clouds, even if it’s just reflected?

Visit SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera), Outdoor Wednesday, Scenic Sunday, Skywatch Friday, Watery Wednesday, Shadow Shot Sunday, Weekend Reflections and Wordless Wednesday for lots of fascinating photo fun. Orange bell peppers

Farmers markets are so great. I took a look at the prices in our local Burien Farmers Market and realized that sometimes they are only a quarter of the cost in the supermarket, and fresher to boot. Next year I am going to make more of an effort to make the Thursday market each week. I like that the money goes right to the farmer, too.

Take a look at what people have posted at Macro Friday, Color Carnival, Macro Monday, Mellow Yellow Monday, SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera), Shadow Shot Sunday and Thursday Challenge (Golden) for more interesting photographs around the blogosphere. And if there is only one photo below, click on Sara’s Fave Photos to see a nice bunch here.

With a nod to the king of peppers, Edward Weston, I choose this as my Best Post of the Week.

Two pink cosmos

There’s nothing like natural light, is there? These cosmos from my garden were catching just a bit of sun in their vase on the windowsill. This image, like most of the ones I show here, is straight out of the camera. When the light is right, most of the photo is just right there for you. Keep your eyes open and be quick!

The light and shadows in this one float my boat so I’m calling this my Best Post of the Week.

Forest shadows

While it’s still blissfully warm in Seattle, with one more day or so before regular temperatures and cloud cover returns, here’s a view that greeted us on our camping trip a couple of weeks ago. Doesn’t that just make you want to take a deep breath? And the new header photo of the boy in Wildcat Lake is just a picture of a warm day, for me.

Red chairs in Poulsbo

Visiting Poulsbo, WA last week for the first time (locals pronounce it POLS-bo) we had some coffee looking out at Liberty Bay. Nice, huh? Nobody does a great summer day like the Seattle area, in this case, on the Kitsap peninsula, an hour or two from Seattle. An extremely cute Norwegian town, perfect for a summer afternoon.

Take a look at Watery WednesdayOutdoor Wednesday, Scenic Sunday, Shadow Shot Sunday, Ruby Tuesday and Color Carnival for some fascinating photo fun. You might try a new tag or category here before you go, though. Click on Sara’s Fave Photos to get to the newest post here.

Brugmansia macro

Brugmansia, or Angels Trumpet, is such a magnificent flower. Taken at a recent Volunteer Park Conservatory event, you can tell this flower, about the size of my hand, is one of my top faves because I used its pink cousins on the cover of my book. They’re quite challenging to photograph, at least if you want them to look as graceful and elegant in your photo as they do when you’re looking at them. How a flower like this can look awkward I do not know, but it happens.

Mellow Yellow Monday, Today’s Flowers, Macro Monday, Macro Flowers Saturday and Macro Friday are neat places to visit. Try Color Carnival, too. Remember, if there is only one photo below, click on Sara’s Fave Photos for the others. Thank you for visiting!
