Soaking pea seeds

We’ve had three days of really nice weather—dry and not too cold. Time to start peas outside! I like to soak them for a few hours before they go in the ground. So exciting to be planting something for spring.

Carpet from 1926

This old carpet was laid in 1926 in the Delta Masonic Lodge building in Tukwila, WA. I love this design. Each flower “petal” is maybe a foot across.

Chandelier ceiling

I was at a concert by the Stamford Symphony Orchestra at the Palace Theater. The ceiling!! The chandelier was huge, perhaps eight feet across. I love old buildings and architecture.

Autumn view at Cloisters

The Cloisters in upper Manhattan is an extraordinary and beautiful place. Here is a view on a perfect fall day from open arched windows. See a few posts below for more Cloisters images.

Shabby old chairs

Even though these graceful chairs in a Richmond Beach, WA coffee shop have seen better days, they still make me want to sit there. Side note: the chair on the left appears to be Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2015, Marsala.

Old window

Not sure if this is dill or fennel, growing outside the window of a house built in the 1890s in Port Townsend, WA.

Old siding

I don’t usually post this kind of photo, but I’ll make an exception for this one. In Port Townsend, WA, we stayed at a place that was built in the 1890s. This was the corner of the garage or shed on the property. It just floats my boat.
