Rainy rosebuds

Thought I’d post a couple of rainy rosebuds for Watery Wednesday. To me the raindrops look almost like jewels. Which one do you prefer?

Spiders!

I know it’s a little late, but had to share our neighbors’ Halloween display for Ruby Tuesday (go there for more ruby redness). There actually were even more spiders spread around their front yard. It was a truly creepy effect. I loved it! And visit Window and Door Wednesday for more interesting window views.

Sunbreak shadows

Here in Seattle we have a special kind of weather called a sunbreak. It’s so cloudy so often, that when the sun peeks through briefly, we rejoice and grab our cameras. At least I do. Here’s the view from my bedroom window, catching the very last leaves of the dogwood tree.

For more shadows scenes, visit Shadow Shot Sunday. And this photo, like most of the ones in this blog, is SOOC, or straight out of the camera. Also check out Scenic Sunday for little slices of heaven, sometimes in a backyard, like this one.

Rain, rain, here to stay

Took these a couple of days ago after the first storms in the rainy series we’ve been having. It rained four inches in two days! Now we’ve given up hope of patio living and have taken the patio furniture inside, but this is how it looked. Be sure to scroll to view second photo.

Red Japanese maple

This was a potted specimen on a porch is Seattle, and I swear this was the color. I have NEVER seen such brilliant red foliage on a plant.

Autumn leaves

The yellow of these leaves is really a very mellow shade, don’t you think? Took this photo a couple of weeks ago, but it’s so perfect for today’s meme. We’ve since had a windstorm, so maybe those branches are bare now. Autumn is glorious, but brief.

Visit Mellow Yellow Monday for more ochre of all kinds.

Scenic Sunday red bushes

These red, red bushes were in a beautiful old neighborhood of Seattle, Capitol Hill. I pulled the car over and took the shot. I think the front one might be called Burning Bush. For more scenic visions around the world, visit Scenic Sunday. And this color brilliance deserves a visit with Color Carnival, too.

Water diamonds

I took this exactly one year ago at the old house. We had a huge mature wisteria and it dropped many leaves each fall, which I would leave on the begonias below it as mulch. Some actually made it through the winter that way. In any case, one wet morning there were these water diamonds sparkling there for me. Now you can see them, too.

Ruby Tuesday Japanese Maple

Here’s a red post for you, all out of season I know, but still worth a look on a gray day like today. Actually, it’s snowing right now, but supposed to melt later but stay cloudy. Thus my interest in something colorful.

Skywatch Friday and Wordless autumn light

The unrelenting gray days here in the Pacific Northwest make me long for sunshine, although I am thankful we are not enduring an arctic cold wave like many other places right now. But I thought I’d share a photo taken at our last house in the autumn. That house was on a hill that faced west, so I was lucky enough to enjoy spectacular late-afternoon light on many days.
