Spring flowerbed

I do like watching what the pros plant. This flowerbed of spring bulbs and pansies is such a vibrant color combination. I usually think of spring as pinks and pales, but this makes me rethink that. What do you plant for spring in your own garden? Deep colors, or Easter-y ones?

Why not pay a visit to Scenic Sunday, SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera), Outdoor Wednesday, Today’s Flowers, Weekend Flowers, Floral Friday, Mellow Yellow Monday or Ruby Tuesday 2? You can click on the Sara’s Fave Photos banner above to see all the photos here. And since Google Friend Connect is ended for non-Blogger sites, I invite you to follow this blog with the widget at the right. Thanks!

Daffodil buds in sunlight

Daffodils have such great buds. I love the way they look like tapered fingertips with green fingernails. Maybe? Anyway, their strong reach towards the weak late winter sunshine is so much appreciated. They are promising springtime!

Lovely places to visit include Scenic Sunday, Today’s Flowers, Macro Monday, Macro Flowers Saturday, Weekend Flowers, Floral Friday, Outdoor Wednesday, Shadow Shot Sunday 2 and  SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera). Thank you for visiting!

Red primroses

Some plants are just photogenic, and primroses are a prime example. Maybe it’s the shiny leaves, maybe it’s the simplicity of the petal forms, but if the light is good and the flowers are pretty, you are going to get a good photo of these cuties. I just want to take home the entire nursery-full.

Google Friend Connect has been discontinued for all non-Blogger sites. I am trying a new Linky Tools followers widget to the right. I hope you will use it to follow this blog, and I apologize for your trouble of doing it twice for all those who have previously followed.

Be sure to visit Today’s Flowers, where I have the honor of being Guest Host on Sunday. Other lovely places around blogland are Mellow Yellow Monday, Macro Monday, Macro Flowers Saturday, Weekend Flowers, Floral Friday, Outdoor Wednesday, Shadow Shot Sunday 2 and Ruby Tuesday 2. Nursery primroses

If primroses are in the garden shops, it must be spring! I was lucky when at a new garden shop the other day, as it was getting pretty late in the afternoon but was briefly sunny, so the light was at that perfect slanty angle I love. Well, it DID hail and snow a bit today, but it didn’t stick, and then the sun was out soon after, no trace left behind. Let’s hear it for plant nurseries. They cheer us up so.

Why not visit Mellow Yellow Monday, SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera), Macro Monday, Macro Flowers Saturday, Today’s Flowers, Weekend Flowers, Floral Friday, Color Carnival, Ruby Tuesday 2, Outdoor Wednesday, and Pink Saturday if you like photos with a theme? Lots of talent out there. While you are here, you might as well click on a new tag or category to find something new you like. And if you leave a comment, I’ll know you were here. Thanks for visiting!

Early pink rhododendron

One of my neighbors has a rhodie that is the first to bloom in the area. Mid-February and showing flowers! How thoughtful of them to provide such cheeriness to people walking by.

For other floral finds, visit Macro Monday, Macro Flowers Saturday, Today’s Flowers, Weekend Flowers, Floral Friday, Color Carnival, Macro Friday, Outdoor Wednesday, Watery Wednesday, and Pink Saturday if you have a minute. Daffodil shoots emerging

It may be a long haul until actual spring that has flowers and warm weather, but I am all psyched when I see these little shoots of daffodils emerging in winter’s melting snow. So brave and yet so tender looking! This inspires me, so I am calling it my Best Post of the Week.

Have a look at Shadow Shot Sunday 2, Macro Friday, Macro Monday, Macro Flowers Saturday, Today’s Flowers, Weekend Flowers, Floral Friday, Scenic Sunday, Outdoor Wednesday and Watery Wednesday for more neat photos. Perhaps do a search here for snow, or winter, first? Always return to the full blog by clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos.

Orange tulip shadows

I know we’ve barely started winter, but I saw a tiny bulb shoot today! So naturally I’m dreaming of spring. Here’s a pretty pair of May tulips for you, under a neighbor’s tree just leafing out. I can dream, can’t I?

Check out Shadow Shot Sunday 2, Outdoor Wednesday, Today’s Flowers, Weekend Flowers, Macro Friday, Macro Monday, Macro Flowers Saturday, Floral Friday, Color Carnival and Mellow Yellow Monday for lots of fascinating photos around the blogosphere. White dutch irises

From my backyard, the other day. I already pulled up the forget-me-nots since then. They fill in so well, looking great when not much else is blooming, but then a certain point is passed, and out they go. No problem with new plants volunteering for next year, of course, perhaps even too vigorously reseeding, but when you have a big place to fill up, these do a fine job. And the dutch irises seem to be quite easy, as well, returning now for the third time and more than I planted. Gardening is so fun when it works out well.

Visit Today’s Flowers, Shadow Shot Sunday, SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera), Mellow Yellow Monday, Blue Monday, Macro Friday, Macro Monday, Macro Flowers Saturday and Outdoor Wednesday. Clicking on Sara’s Fave Photos brings you back to the latest post here always.

Pieris or andromeda driveway

Wouldn’t you like to pick up your mail by walking on this driveway every day? I surely do love sunny days and the shadows that result. The pink shrub at the entrance is a real scene-stealer. This sentinel is pieris or andromeda, very popular here in the Pacific Northwest. I read that our soils are acidic and that’s why plants such as rhododendrons and azaleas (and pieris) tend to do so well. Who knew?

Visit Shadow Shot Sunday and Pink Saturday on this long weekend. Also try Scenic Sunday, Outdoor Wednesday and SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera) if you have a minute. Remember, if there is only one photo below, click on the Sara’s Fave Photos banner above to see the rest of the collection.

This photo makes me want to keep looking at it, so I’m calling it my Best Post of the Week.

Portland Japanese Garden in Spring

If you’re ever in the Portland, Oregon area in the springtime, this place is a must-see. Enormous, magnificent, and brilliantly conceived and tended, it just knocked my socks off. Rain or shine, a scenic wonderland. Please see Free Photos “next door” (link below the header above) for more from that locale. You can search there for Japanese garden if that series is no longer at the top.

I love this photo and have called it my Best Post of the Week.

Visit Pink Saturday, Shadow Shot Sunday, Scenic Sunday, Today’s Flowers, Outdoor Wednesday, SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera), Ruby Tuesday, Weekend Reflections, and Watery Wednesday for more intriguing photos. Browse around here first, perhaps by visiting the category for “Weekend Reflections”? Remember, always see the latest photos here by clicking on the Sara’s Fave Photos banner.
