Today's rose

Took this yesterday in a break from the heavy rain we’ve been having. Roses don’t really like a lot of rain and if you know more is coming, you might as well pick the ones you have and enjoy the bouquet before they get too battered. Isn’t this a pretty one?

Skywatch Friday ferry

A recent view of Seattle’s Puget Sound with a ferry coming into dock, very late in the day. The quality is not so great, but out of the car window at cruising speed, in low light, well, it’s amazing what these little cameras can do. For skies seen around the world, visit Skywatch Friday.

Raindrops on rose petals

The sunny weather finally ended, and we’re looking at at least a week or two of rain and showers. Today I was out after a meeting in Wallingford and saw this rose still showing the rain from a few minutes before. I just can’t seem to get enough roses lately, but I think the rain coming up will put an end to them for this year.

I’ve decided that this is my Best Post of the Week. Check out what other bloggers think is the week’s best.

Puget Sound tonight

Driving up the Viaduct I couldn’t resist clicking the camera out my open window. Happy Skywatch Friday!

View from the overlook

The weather is quite changed, much colder, and summer is truly over, I’m afraid. We had rain and wind and brief sun, and luckily I was at the overlook near my house today and saw Puget Sound in its glory. Happy Watery Wednesday!

Lucky koi

I have read that swimming koi (goldfish?) must be pictured from above, or else it is not good luck. Okay, I’m hazy on this, but these beautiful specimens appears lucky to me. The many fish in this large indoor pond were large and healthy looking, and so thrilling, the way they move so quickly and gracefully.

Carter Falls in Mt. Rainier National Park

This was really a hike. The brochure they give out said it was easy, but they lied. Even so, seeing lots of water tumbling downhill is so wonderful, even if you can’t get close at all or even get a good view. I love waterfalls. It was worth it.

Big Creek morning scene

Gifford Pinchot National Forest near Mt. Rainier in western Washington includes at least one fairly primitive campground and a wide creek. I love the sound of plashing water I heard there, rushing round the creek rocks. Morning light and captured promise of a warm day makes the image below one of my very top faves.

Lake, symbol of pleasure

In the I Ching, ancient Chinese system for understanding things, the symbol for Pleasure is Lake. Interestingly, the symbol for Danger is Water. But that’s another story.

In any case, this view of crystal-clear waters of a corner of Lake Cushman truly gives me pleasure. You can just see the fishing line of a person out of the frame trying his luck. I am content to just view the water, or perhaps get my feet wet. On second thought, let’s jump in!

Scenic Lake Cushman

While I was in the folder of Lake Cushman photos for the shadow shot below, I saw this photo, taken on the same day, and knew it needed to be posted for Scenic Sunday. Enjoy!
