Winter arrangement

On my visit to Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory last week, there was this in the entryway:

Bouquet in the mirror

Looking through some old photos, I found this one of me and a bouquet from my garden in California, from 1984, almost 30 years ago! I guess my interest in gardening, flowers and photography isn’t going away any time soon.

Bird migration in Seaside OR

These birds were migrating in late August off the coast of Oregon, in the Pacific Northwest. You can see the surfers in wetsuits in the water, too. It went on like this for the longest time. Uncountable number of birds.

Seattle Space Needle and skyline

I was in Seattle and saw this view of the Space Needle, and the Experience Music Project on the lower left. Glorious!

Artificial anthuriums

Even fake flowers can look good when the light is nice. These white anthurium flowers were a pretty holiday display at the Normandy Park Cove Holiday Bazaar yesterday.

Five pies

Couldn’t resist a little food abundance photo: five pies! Marionberry, strawberry-rhubarb, peach, pecan, and coconut cream pie. Boy oh boy.

1930s linens

I went to the most wonderful exhibit last night in Burien, WA: Hope in Hard Times, a pop-up museum that is well worth popping into. It’s only there through January 4, so if you are in the Seattle area, it’s well worth a visit. Many of us were strongly influenced by Depression-era culture. I know I was, through my mother. Here are some exquisite table linens that some anonymous artist made:

When I was in the Seattle Asian Art Museum recently, I saw this detail of antique Chinese embroidery of ocean waves that I thought you might enjoy.

It’s been foggy

Seattle has had a highly unusual weather situation. It’s been foggy for a week! This is what the view from my yard looked like yesterday.
