Scallion flower bud

Scallions (green onions) are super easy to grow and have lovely flowers as a bonus, which easily reseed new little scallions. This post is for Thursday Challenge, and the subject this week is “Youth.” And for Think Green Thursday, growing your own food is the greenest thing I know. This photo, like most of the posts on this blog, is straight out of the camera, or SOOC.

Must be away again for a few days; see you on my return.

Fall rainbow

On my way to meet a client I got to see a rainbow this week. Oh, the joy of rainbows! For more skies around the planet, visit Skywatch Friday.

Rain, rain, here to stay

Took these a couple of days ago after the first storms in the rainy series we’ve been having. It rained four inches in two days! Now we’ve given up hope of patio living and have taken the patio furniture inside, but this is how it looked. Be sure to scroll to view second photo.

Roses in sun and shadow

Here is a bouquet I picked last week. The sun came out strong and before I took them to a cooler location, of COURSE I took this photo.

For more shadows of all types and descriptions, visit Shadow Shot Sunday.

Raindrops on rose petals

The sunny weather finally ended, and we’re looking at at least a week or two of rain and showers. Today I was out after a meeting in Wallingford and saw this rose still showing the rain from a few minutes before. I just can’t seem to get enough roses lately, but I think the rain coming up will put an end to them for this year.

For more water of all kinds, visit Watery Wednesday.

I’ve decided that this is my Best Post of the Week. Check out what other bloggers think is the week’s best.

Pink Roses on a fence

I admire the restraint in planting one color of flower like this. I can’t seem to help wanting one of each color. The best I can do is plant groups of similar plants in different colors, which is just not as impressive as one huge color splash like this one. A neighbor’s garden on a walk the other day was so perfectly pink I had to share it. Happy Pink Saturday to all!

A new flower, Ismene Festalis

We planted so many bulbs last fall, some tried and true, other new ones to take some chances. This is one of the ones I’d never heard of. And it’s fragrant, like most white flowers, a bonus! So amazingly graceful. And for other close ups, visit Macro Monday and take a look around.

Wedding flowers

It’s June, and we were lucky enough to attend a wedding. Dan and Misty tied the knot, and here’s the cake and Misty’s bouquet for Today’s Flowers. What a wonderful party it was, too.

I’m a little late for Pink Saturday, but there’s a world of pink out there; go look.

Pansies

This a a top fave flower photo of mine, again from New York’s Bronx Botanical Garden. These little pansies were at their peak, and perfection in a modest little flower, to my mind. For more heavenly flowers around the world, visit Today’s Flowers.

Volunteer Park Conservatory flowers

There is a beautiful old-fashioned glass building in northeast Seattle called the Volunteer Park Conservatory. A remarkable collection of exquisitely cared for plants and flowers, a must see, especially on a rainy day. Do you see the gardenia tree in the top one? The whole place smelled heavenly.
