On a walk near my house yesterday I snapped this photo looking south. Yes, that is a tiny boat down there.

This from a fall afternoon in the old house in Des Moines WA. You can actually ripen grapes in chilly Seattle, but you must have the vine planted in a southern exposure in as warm a spot as you can find. It worked! I hated to leave this grapevine we planted. It had super sweet, tiny loose bunches of tender yellow-green grapes. And the leaves were so beautiful in the late afternoon.

Out on a walk the other day, cold though it was, I found a long fence completely covered in some kind of red berry plant. I have no idea what it is. Does anyone know? But oh so red, and oh so welcome on a gray and gloomy Seattle January day.

This is Seattle’s Woodland Park Rose Garden, in late June. It was much bigger than I expected. So much fun to be able to take endless numbers of photos with a digital camera. The sense of abundance matched the display.

Here is a post for Scenic Sunday. I think to be scenic there has to be expansive view, have sunny skies and hopefully be pretty as well. That’s what I feel is scenic, and others may have other ideas. The unrelenting gray days here in the Pacific Northwest make me long for sunshine, although I am thankful we are not enduring an arctic cold wave like many other places right now. But I thought I’d share a photo taken at our last house in the autumn. That house was on a hill that faced west, so I was lucky enough to enjoy spectacular late-afternoon light on many days.
