On our trip to Astoria, Oregon on my birthday in April we stayed right at the river, which was wonderful. I took some good shots of the amazing bridge at the mouth of the river there, but these moss-covered posts, old pier supports, fascinated me. And I just saw that there’s a seagull hiding in the corner!

This was taken at a campground near Mt. Ranier in Washington state. There were floods later on which roared through this area and it may not be possible to camp here any more.

I’m trying something new. I took a video, my very first, of the creek because it sounded so wonderful and with these newfangled digital cameras, you can. On a walk near my house yesterday I snapped this photo looking south. Yes, that is a tiny boat down there.

Here is a post for Scenic Sunday. I think to be scenic there has to be expansive view, have sunny skies and hopefully be pretty as well. That’s what I feel is scenic, and others may have other ideas. Browsing through some old photos I found this I took somewhere in Florida in 1983! I really don’t remember where, maybe down in the Keys. But a pretty sky, a relaxing tropical feel, and a good start for the new year, I think. Here’s to scenic beauty and peace and relaxation in 2009.

I had some time to take a walk in downtown Seattle yesterday and caught this iconic sign over our famous Pike’s Place Market on Puget Sound just as the sun went down. Not a very showy sky, but still, it’s the sky that makes the shot. If you ever visit Seattle, this place is a must. And for more thrilling skies around the entire world, click HERE.
